Things to do in Lander
Downtown Lander and it's shops and restaurants are right around the corner from the us. Pick up a walking tour at the Lander Chamber of Commerce.
Sinks Canyon State Park is a short beautiful 20 minute drive from downtown Lander, WY. There are several good hiking trails and off course world class climbing.
Popo Agie Falls is a 45 minute hike from the Bruce's Bridge parking area at the top of Sinks Canyon. This view is from the Middle Fork Trail.
The Loop Road
The Loop Road takes you into the start of the high county and lets you access Fry Lake, Worthen Meadows Reservoir, Fiddlers Lake, Louis Lake and the trailheads to the Popo Agie Wilderness.
24 miles south of Lander is the beautiful Red Canyon overlook.
The Museum of the American West (MAW) is part of a museum complex that includes a living history village, a county-owned museum, a picnic pavilion, an outdoor performance arena. A creek flows through this site along which there is a walking path that will take you to a xeriscape garden.
During the summer months there are Native American dancing exhibitions on the Museum grounds.
Willie's Handcart Memorial is located near Atlantic City Wyoming along the many historic trails that pass close to here including the Oregon and Mormon Trails.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Lander office has several beautiful displays featuring our native animals and landscapes. Less than a half mile from the Holiday Lodge. Well worth going to see and it's FREE.
